As our population ages, the demand for Memory Care services increases dramatically. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, 5.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimers in 2018. By 2050, this number is projected to more than double to nearly 14 million.
There are several types of residential care available from Welcov that may be appropriate, depending upon the stage of Alzheimer’s that a person is experiencing:
This may be appropriate for someone who is experiencing early-stage symptoms and can care for themselves independently. They may be able to live safely on their own but might not be able to manage their entire household. Our Independent Living facilities provide a bit of supervision, social activities, transportation, and other amenities, which vary by location.
This fills the gap between Independent Living and Long-Term Care. In our Assisted Living locations we provide housing, meals, support and healthcare services. Assisted Living is not regulated by the federal government and its definitions vary, depending upon the state in which the facility is located. Fourteen of our Assisted Living facilities have Certified Memory Care Units, which can make the transition easier.
Our Long-Term Care residents receive 24/7 medical treatment and are provide services related to nutrition, recreation, care planning, and spirituality. Our Long-Term Care facilities that also contain a Memory Care Unit on the campus have specially-trained nursing staff.
Our Certified Memory Care units are designed and staffed to meet the specific needs of residents suffering from the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s and related diseases. Welcov’s Memory Care program is designed to provide on-going support and encouragement in a secure setting.
Welcov has 14 Certified Memory Care Units located in Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. You can find the most convenient location here. Also, ten of our locations offer Independent and Assisted Living, as well as Long-Term and Memory Care.
